Let’s make coffee.

  1. 01

    Get ready

Rinse the filter and empty the rinse water. Add 15 g of medium-ground coffee and level the bed.

  2. 02

    Let it bloom

Start your timer. Add 45 g of water, wetting all the coffee, and pause until about 30–45 seconds.

  3. 03

    Keep pouring

Add water in two or three steady pours until the scale reads 250 g in total.

  4. 04

    Let it finish

Aim for a total brew time around 2½–3 minutes. Taste it before changing the grind.

Making two?

Try 30 g of coffee and 500 g of water in a V60 02 or another suitably sized brewer. Use a 90 g bloom and pour in stages so the filter doesn’t overflow. A bigger brew can take longer; keep a note of the result rather than forcing the one-cup timing.
