POUR THIS MUCH WATER
320g

20 g coffee → 320 g water (1:16)

This is total water poured. Some water will stay in the grounds.

It’s a starting point.
Your taste decides.

What does 1:16 mean?

One gram of coffee for every 16 grams of brewing water. For example, 20 g of coffee and 320 g of water.

Is an espresso ratio the same thing?

The maths is the same, but the measurement is different. For espresso, the second number describes the drink you collect. At 1:2, an 18 g dose gives a target of 36 g of espresso.

Can I scale a recipe for more cups?

Yes. Enter the total brewing water you want to use and choose your ratio. Check that the batch fits your brewer, and expect grind or timing adjustments for a larger brew.
