Let’s make coffee.
- 01
Fill the basket
Grind the coffee fine and fill the basket level with its rim. Level it with your finger without tamping. The reference dose is 30 g; your basket determines the amount.
- 02
Fill the base
Boil the water and fill the lower chamber, keeping the water below the safety valve. The app’s reference quantity is 300 g; do not exceed your pot’s fill level.
- 03
Assemble
Insert the basket and screw on the upper chamber securely. Use a cloth or oven glove because the base is hot.
- 04
Heat
Place the pot on medium heat with the lid open to watch the flow. The app allows about 3 minutes for coffee to start flowing, but follow what the pot is doing.
- 05
Manage the flow
Reduce the heat to keep the flow controlled. The next timed stage is about a minute. Remove the pot from the heat when it begins to gurgle, then serve.
Use the pot’s capacity
Unlike a pour-over, a moka pot is not freely scalable. Keep the basket level, do not tamp the grounds, and keep the safety valve clear of water and coffee.
