Let’s make coffee.

  1. 01

    Prepare the filter

Heat your brewing water to 92°C. Open the filter with its three-layer side against the spout. Rinse the paper and discard the rinse water.

  2. 02

    Add the coffee

Grind 30 g of coffee medium, add it to the filter, and tare the scale.

  3. 03

    Bloom

Pour 60 g of water over the grounds and wait 30 seconds.

  4. 04

    Pour to 500 g

Gently pour the remaining 440 g, stopping when the scale reads 500 g in total. Pour gradually as the brewer drains rather than filling it above the filter rim.

  5. 05

    Drain and serve

The app gives this stage 3 minutes 30 seconds. Let the water drain through, remove the filter, and serve.

Timing the drawdown

The app’s timed stages are a 30-second bloom and a 3-minute-30-second drain. Pouring adds to elapsed time. Record your actual finish time rather than treating four minutes as a strict total.
